U16 2nd XV Warly boys don't give up!
Herculean efforts from the Warly boys against a full A squad from East Grinstead
It was always going to a mammoth challenge taking on the full might and force of the Sussex team's 1st squad, but given the choice of a last minute friendly or a coaching session our boys chose a match. That's a good call seeing how they knew there would an uneven contest, but boys will be boys and as a coaching team we were proud of the tremendous heart and grit they showed.
Ably lead by a very relaxed and jovial Daniel Wllicombe, our boys stood their ground against a heavy attacking team. Some notable heavy defence put up by Josh Cockell, George Watchorn and Bradley Cummings all showing us they are both able to listen to some of our recent coaching on the tackle and how to react in the loose, but more importantly how to send a shock wave message back to their opposition.
Doing the double were Joel Munroe and Rimarni Richards, playing a half in both games with the 1st XV going on straight after with their Quins cup fixture v London Irish. Joel showing us once again his safe handling, lightening pace and no fear policy when taking on the oppo. Good hands and pace also on show from the likes of Harry Fisher, Ryan Stone and Kish Anrude. No shirking in the loose with some great energetic rugby from Andrew Dearden and Sam Addison. Sad to lose Kalvin Waiton so early on due to a dose of the flu, but he made his mark in a short passage of play. A long awaited return of the mercurial Aram Rounagh allowed us to witness once again his searing pace and focus, but all to quickly dashed with another injury, he'll be back, he's like Ironman.
All the boys showed tremendous courage and determination throughout and the coaching team wish to congratulate them in their effort. Well done all.
