Warly U16 Boys pull a draw against Paris Universitie Club
Our Sunday morning fixture in the Bois de Vincennes put some level playing on not quite a field (more mud and grit really!?)
Some patchy play in phases, bit like the Stade Pershing grass (what grass?) This in part down to a desire to score tries only rather than play as a team. (You get that with too little sleep and too much lemonade) . But once the U16 tourists got their focus on, they showed some great flowing rugby, rigid defence and good discipline. Solid in the scrums with the French rules of stop shove once the ball is won, and fairly even in the line out. French defence is always good so halfhearted attacking play from the English was never going to cut it.
Great lively performances from all 18 boys, tries from Luca Fassio (x 2), Jamal Ryan-Coker and Max Mouna with 2 conversions from Luca. Good captaining from Liam Sullivan, and resolute dominance from the centre combination of Daniel Willicombe and Max Mouna. Great strength from our quartet of 'pillars' Adam Dunn, Ollie Leake, Marni Richards and the welcome return of Charlie Stanhope.
Man of the Match: Glenmore Haydon (for unrelenting pressure on their no.7, no.9, no.10 - great game)
Try Scorer of the Match: Luca Fassio (welcome back)
Captain of the Match: Liam Sullivan (kept a cool head)
Ringer of the Match: Max Mouna
