1st XV Team results

With only thirteen players on the pitch and over thirty minutes left to play, Warlingham were never
going to threaten their visitors who had lost just one game so far this season. Warlingham’s injury
and unavailability list continues to hamper their progress in the toughest league played in by local clubs and
their misery continued at Hamsey Green when their visitors, Twickenham, scored ten tries with only one
penalty from Mark Kozminski ticking over the home scoreboard.
Warlingham defended stoutly in the first twenty minutes with lock James Delderfield and captain Alex Skinner
putting in solid tackles. The evergreen prop Alex Nunn held his own in the set piece and the improving fly half Louis
Rossi-Jones kicked intelligently. These efforts were to no avail as the visitors’ back line swung into action and
their nifty scrum half Sam Wattridge grabbed a hat trick and James Clark going one better on the wing.
Warlingham’s scrum was somewhat disrupted when both Delderfield and prop Chris Elmes went off injured,
followed by Kozminski. With two men short the floodgates opened and Twickenham took advantage to the full.
Desperate defence from the brave Warlingham players, especially centre Josh Coakes and teenager Josh Newman,
made the visitors work for their rewards but they ended the afternoon in third position in the league table and
Warlingham pointless at the bottom..
Next Saturday Warlingham travel to Winchester RFC
