WARLINGHAM RFC WOLVES U17/18 SEASON 2018 - 2019
Finishing in the top 4 in Surrey at the end of the U16 season was a terrific end for us and one that we hope will instil great confidence in the boys going forwards. Our boys will now form part of the Warlingham Wolves being U17s and U18s born 1st September 2000 to 31st August 2002, effectively both sixth form years (or year 12/13). Some fixtures will be for U17s only and the majority for both. Our 2001/2002 boys will be the significant majority.
If the coaching content is the core, then the other features are the add-ons that create the appeal to parents and players. We are committed to keeping alive the good vibe we already have and adding more in the coming months. Alongside retention of the current squad, the importance of networking and the recruitment of new players is critical. Needs EVERYONE’S help please.
The significance of coaching content this year is paramount. I and others came to the end of our ‘coaching curriculum’ last year when most of the boys’ skill levels were beyond what we can teach them. I’ve asked the club to help plot into the seasonal calendar 10 significant, very focused, well planned coaching sessions to be delivered by both the seniors and a few selected outsiders. These to take place on either Sundays or Thursday evenings. The season is predictably short really when you take out all the bank holidays, major holidays, cup matches, a tour and a few well known friendlies. Lastly a good deal of the energy should come from the boys. Specific Coaching needs, fitness and strength conditioning must also come down to them.
v ‘Whole Season’ plan with a good spread of quality club fixtures and local games taking care to work around School matches, National school’s comps, county matches.
v Coaching slots plotted into the season calendar with key dates for one off visiting and guest coach sessions.
v Domestic and overseas tours and touring teams to Warlingham.
v CPD - players attending and achieving Level 1 /2 coaching qualifications and refereeing qualifications. (can support their A level PE etc.)
v Membership / use of the fitness and the conditioning room
v 7s / 10s / 15s Tournaments
v Playing kit and other branded and club logo'ed sports gear.
v Club socials
v Tickets to International AND premiership games
Please please use Pitchero as much as possible. We know it's limitations but it is still the best we have at showing fixture dates, team selections and post match reports. The app is slightly better than the desk-top. We would like all the boys to have full access to this with their own independent profiles, but still keeping the parents in the loop. You can expect a weekly email and the boys use of WhatsApp for small comms --> http://www.mightywarl.com/teams/105263 Any questions with this please revert to me or use the online help.
