Beccs festival info

Hi all,

Good training session yesterday, and glad to see the sun shining (even if it was very cold).

Well done to Dylan and Tom who were both awarded player of the week.

IMPORTANT – Upcoming festivals:
· We have lots of away festivals coming up, where we will be sending 1 or 2 teams. A team normally comprises six players (4 on the pitch and 2 subs, where we change subs each half so that everyone gets to play).
· Where possible (and depending on coaches’ availability) we will also run a training session at home for those who are not attending the festival. Now’s a good time for volunteers to put their hands up to join our coaching team so that we can avoid having to cancel any home training sessions!
· I am keen for all the kids to play in a couple of festivals. Please complete the attached Doodle poll by Wednesday to let me have your availability for each of the upcoming festivals: http://doodle.com/poll/xec7wxaznhmndrkf
o If you can do the Away festival please select that box.
o If you can do the Home training please select that box.
o If you can do either Away festival or Home training please select both boxes.
o If you can do neither home or away (i.e. you are unavailable that week) please leave both home and away boxes blank.
o Following that please also mark if you have a preference for Home or Away. If no preference then please leave these boxes blank.
· This link will stay live, so if you need to update your option you can. Team selections will be made about a week before the festival based on this Doodle poll. Please don’t pull out once you have been selected.
· The festivals are great fun and they kids love them. They typically start at 10am, and normally finish between 1 and 2pm. If your child is selected to play, they will be expected to stay until the end of the festival.
· There is a cost of £5 per child to attend a festival. This goes towards the entry fees levied by the hosting club. Warlingham RFC pays the difference.
· Players will need to wear rugby kit and a Warlingham rugby shirt to play at the festival. These are available from the club shop.

Saracens v Quins match at Wembley – 16th April:
· A reminder again about the Saracens v Quins match in April. Details below and on the attached document:

o A reminder again that we’ve got the opportunity to get tickets for Quins v Saracens at Wembley on 16th April. Kick off at 3.15, but the show starts at 2pm. Tickets are priced from only £20 for adults and £7.50 for Junior (U16), and is should be a great day out. Hopefully Quins will be able to pull off another win against Saracens like they did last weekend.

o Warlingham RFC is also on the list for the Pride in Unity Parade at Wembley and details regarding timings and logistics will be circulated nearer the date of the match. This is a parade of minis and juniors around the stadium prior to kick off, usually whilst the players are warming up. Each club in the parade is given a banner with their club name on and the boys/girls parade behind it. There is no maximum amount that can join the parade but there is a minimum of 20/25 kids. This is a unique experience that will live long in the memories of the kids – being pitch side inside a national stadium on a match day!

o If you book tickets to the match and would like your U7 son / daughter to participate in the pre-match parade please add their names to this doodle poll so that we know who’s going: http://doodle.com/poll/kh5ia5fd77nndatg

Changing room / Bath
Please remember to put boots on in the changing rooms, and not in the main hall.

If the kids are muddy / cold after training they can use the giant bath in the changing rooms. Remember to bring swimming trunks (not compulsory but recommended) and a towel if your child would like to have a bath on Sunday. It did go down very well with the U8s and U10s apparently last week.

Use times will be staggered so it does not get too busy. Unless we are told otherwise, the times will be

U6 - 11.00 - 11.15 am
U7 - 11.30-11.45 am
U8 - 11.45-12.00 am
U9 and U10 - 12.00-12.15 pm
U11 and U12 - 12.15-12.30pm

Sponsorship for the Tour
We have a big group of U7s who signed up to the rugby tour in Minehead before Christmas.

Previous tours have been excellent fun, enjoyed by all, as well as being a marvellous spectacle. Our club has drawn attention to itself through its success and sportsmanship at these tournaments and we have even made new friends who have travelled to attend our festivals of late.

As always we have a theme and this year it is 'Star Wars'. An amazing kit for the kids has been designed which will no doubt be very popular.

Although we have a number of willing parents who put a lot of effort and personal time into planning and organising this event, the kit costs money. We have been very fortunate previous years to have sufficient sponsorship from various parents/companies to enable us to pay for the tour kit for the boys, and we hope to be able to do the same this year.

As a club we have many parents running or working for companies that may be interested in contributing sponsorship for this tour, in return the company logo of their choice will be added to the tour kit. In addition we also produce tour polo shirts and hoodies which the parents buy, we can have the company logos added to these also which are worn continuously by the parents both at and outside the club. We can also offer pitch side boards at WRFC, logos on the website and having the company logos on the tour information we send out as part of the package.

If you are interested in sponsoring the minis tour for any amount, or know someone who might be, then please get in contact with Russ Joao - russjoao@yahoo.co.uk , who is the overall organiser of the tour and Peter Jerrom – peter.jerrom.WRFC@gmail, as soon as you possibly could.

Please also note that tour shirts should NOT be worn when we host clubs or go away to other clubs - we should use our main sponsored kit where we can.

As always please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks, Rob
