London Division II South West Tottonians 38pts -v- Warlingham 11pts

Having played no competitive rugby for a month both sides could have been forgiven if they were a trifle rusty. Warlingham indeed were - but top-of-the-table Tottonians showed no sign of post-Christmas lethargy and galloped into a two try lead in first ten minutes before the visitors had even touched the ball. Playing with the gale force wind Warlingham slotted two penalties through full back Joe McEvoy but his later kick out of defence in his own twenty-two was carried ever onwards by the elements to run dead, thus giving Tottonians a scrum back deep in Warlingham's half.
When Tottonians swung the ball wide in both directions Warlingham ran out of defenders and a third try ensued.

Debutante players Jack Thomas (hooker) and Brad Kearney (wing) proved their worth at the top level and acquitted themselves well. Locks David Thornton and Luke Delderfield were prominent in the loose and evergreen prop Alex Nunn shone in the set pieces but the backline was harried at all times by a lively Tottonians defence.

Some indiscipline led to yellow cards being flourished by the referee to two Tottonans players for foul play, but Warlingham were unable to capitalise on the advantage. Scrum half James Agate and flanker John Dowling tackled their hearts out but after half time the home side took control at a lineout and drove over for their bonus point fourth try which was closely followed by a harshly awarded penalty try despite the Tottonians back row making a pig's ear of diving on the ball over the try line. A sixth try well and truly sealed the result but Warlingham were game to the end and when Delderfield followed up a kick ahead and charged down the
defending kick, winger Mark Kozminski glided over untouched for a consolation try. After the game, Warlingham coach, Patrick Dennien
said,"We had some unavailabilities today but the new lads did really well. Tottonians showed why they are top-of-the-table and we need
to up our game to get back to winning ways.

Next Saturday Warlingham host bottom side Tadley after the Surrey RFU president, John Raywood, presents the Club with the coveted
RFU Accredited ClubMark award at the pre-match lunch.
