Travelling to Jonny Wilkinson's first club, Warlingham were keen to build on their recent form and cement their position in the top half of the table. The bright winter sunshine made it tricky for Farnham in the first half but they opened the scoring with a well struck penalty. Warlingham full back Joe McEvoy took a high kick in
his 22, marked the ball but took off at a fast rate of knots deep into Farnham territory. Winning a penalty he calmly levelled the scores. Warlingham back line, shephered by the mature Alex Glover at fly half, began to show their talent and, but for a dubious forward pass, Atkinson would have been in for a certain try. Nevertheless Farnham pegged the visitors back into their own half and took the lead with a second penalty.

Centre Brad Saffery breached the Farnham defence at will and a clever kick ahead from scrum half James Agate lead to a desperate chase for the ball. Agate's speed was just lacking and the ball rolled dead. Just before the half time whistle McEvoy drilled over his second penalty to even the scores. No 8 David Thornton was his usual ubiquitous self making ground with every opportunity and a deft reverse pass to the wise hooker Alex Nunn took the move forward but Farnham defended well and no score came before half time.

Straight from the re-start Farnham gathered the ball and their centre outstripped the majority of the Warlingham defenders
to score a brilliant converted try. McEvoy reduced the deficit with a third penalty and Warlingham, spurred on by determined
drives by locks Luke Delderfield and George Ioannou. Severalphases of play took Warlingham to the five metre line but a
knock on seemd to have killed off the move. However, from the resultant scrum, Nunn nicked one against the head and the
scrum heaved forward at a pace and a pushover try resulted. McEvoy's conversion from the touch line gave Warlingham a
slender lead and his fourth penalty added the pain to Farnham.

Captain Jon Osborne then scrambled over for Warlingham's second try and the win looked secured. Farnham pack were not
done and, from a five metre line out they drov over and the game was in the balance with a one-score gap. Warlingham closed
down the game and the winning points were theirs. Farnham took a one point losing bonus point but they are still rooted to the
bottom of the table. After the game Warlingham Coach Patrick DENNIEN said, "This was a potential banana skin game where
we knew Farnham would target this game for a win. The lads focussed well and I they are now beginning to play to their potential. With the seasoned front row forward Ben Stobart on the bench we have the back-up fire power to get through 80 minutes rugby at high octane level."

Next Saturday Warlingham take on Old Alleynians at their Hamsey Green home before the Christmas break.

Warlingham: Agate, Atkinson, Beaven, Dowling, Delderfield, Glover, Ioannou, King, McEvoy, Nunn, Osborne (capt), Robson,
Saffery, Scutt, Skinner, Thornton, Townsend, Stobart.
