Warlingham continued their winning ways with a late charge against newly promoted
Old Georgians who were only one place below them in the league. It was a nail-biting afternoon for the supporters but, once again the metronomic boot of fly half Joe McEvoy kept the home side in touch despite Old Georgians scoring four, bonus-point tries. The lead changed hands four times in this tense ding-dong battle with Warlingham just the better side over the 80 minutes. Back rower and former captain, Alex Skinner claimed man-of-the-match status with determined charges with ball in hand and solid defending.
The game was held up when the visitors’ captain and fly half went off with a knee injury and this clearly effected their game. However tries by McEvoy, lock Paddy Green and Skinner, together with three conversions and three penalties from McEvoy saw Warlingham mark up their sixth win of the season to cement their fifth place in the league. Director of Rugby Nick Warren said, “Our defence let us down today but we showed great
character to fight back when they went two scores up late on in the game.”
Warlingham have a break next Saturday and on the 17th November they visit Battersea Ironsides who have only
lost one game all season and sit third place in the league.
